Manifold® Products

Manifold System is a single, integrated product that provides three major classes of GIS functionality in a single package: as a desktop application, as an objects library for programmers and as an Internet Map Server for web applications (all versions except Personal Edition include IMS). Different Manifold System editions make it possible to deliver advanced features to organizations while still providing tremendous capabilities at very low cost for individuals.

Personal Edition delivers an enormous amount of functionality, much more than can be purchased for tens of thousands of dollars with some legacy GIS products. The next step up is Professional Edition, which adds IMS. The next step up from that is Enterprise Edition, which adds sophisticated spatial DBMS capability and features of special interest to organizations. Enterprise Edition is so inexpensive that most business users, even just individual consultants, usually will choose it. Manifold provides so much built-in functionality that there are only three optional extensions: Business Tools, Geocoding Tools and Surface Tools extend the already rich capabilities of Manifold with extra features.

Manifold products are delivered as a download by Internet. No DVD is included in the price of Manifold System products. If you would like delivery on physical media, purchase the Manifold 8.00 DVD (Media Only) product for DVD installation media.

Manifold System Editions

Each Manifold System edition is available in a regular, 32-bit version or, for $50 additional, a true 64-bit version. If you are running an x64 version of Windows, get the 64-bit version of Manifold. 64-bit Manifold products provide superior performance and capacity on Windows x64 operating systems such as Windows XP x64, Windows Server 2003 x64 or Windows Vista x64. 64-bit Manifold licenses may also be installed and run as 32-bit applications in 32-bit Windows systems. The Geocoding Tools extension is so popular that it is available for only $30 additional when purchased in a bundle with a Manifold System edition.

Personal Edition - Includes all Professional Edition features except Internet Map Server (IMS). IMS is used to GIS-enable web sites if you are operating your own web server. Includes two standard tech support incidents by email.

Professional Edition - Superb GIS and mapping using vector drawings and raster images and surfaces in perfect integration. Includes full scripting and development facilities plus the best database management and analysis capabilities of any GIS. Includes Internet Map Server for GIS enabled web sites using HTML, OGC WMS, OGC WFS-T (transaction enabled) and Manifold Image Server. Enterprise Edition - Includes all features of Professional Edition plus native access to spatial DBMS data sources. Provides concurrent, multi-user storage and editing of drawings in a centralized enterprise-class geospatial database using IBM DB/2, Oracle, SQL Server 2005, SQL Server 2008 ("Katmai"), PostgreSQL/PostGIS, ESRI SDE or Personal Geodatabases and many other DBMS products. Users can reuse and edit drawings, images and other mapping components in the central DBMS without conflicts. Supports storage of images and surfaces in spatial DBMS (including native support for Oracle GeoRasters) as well as Area of Interest windowing into terabyte-class spatial DBMS data sets. Network fault-tolerant. Writes to .e00, too. Includes two standard tech support incidents by email.

Database Administrator Edition - Includes all features of Enterprise Edition plus additional database administration tools. Allows easy management of Manifold components stored on enterprise-class databases such as IBM DB/2, Oracle, SQL Server 2005, SQL Server 2008 and PostgreSQL/PostGIS. Includes Batch Export to Oracle and also Administrator Console for enabling user-friendly features such as formatting, preconfigured linking and friendly names. A must have for teams and larger organizations to supplement Manifold licenses used by most users in the organization (most users normally use Enterprise Edition or Universal Edition). Includes two standard tech support incidents by email.

Floating Licenses

$1995 - Manifold 8.00 License Server x64 - 64-bit / 32-bit License Server product to administer floating Manifold licenses for primary Manifold licenses such as Enterprise Edition or Universal Edition or other Editions, excluding runtime licenses. Please contact sales@manifold.net for purchase instructions. Please see the License Server topic for additional information. The cost of a License Server installation will be the cost of the License Server license plus the cost of the licenses loaded into the License Server. Floating licenses acquired for License Server use are not discountable.

Runtime Licenses

Manifold System runtime licenses provide programmatic access to Manifold System capabilities at a reduced cost. Runtime licenses are used to incorporate Manifold capabilities within other applications or to deploy IMS applications to web servers. Runtime licenses provide full programmatic capabilities but do not include the GUI utilized in non-runtime Manifold licenses. Runtime licenses require expert Manifold skills and are "license only" products delivered as a serial number only - no DVD is sent. All runtime licenses are x64 licenses, allowing use in either 32-bit or 64-bit Windows systems.

Extensions

Manifold extensions are optional products that add capabilities to Manifold System editions. Universal Edition and Ultimate Edition already include all extensions. Extensions automatically function in 32-bits or 64-bits to match the functionality of the Manifold System license in use.

Upgrades

Upgrade products provide a reduced-cost way to update a prior version of Manifold System or to step up to a Manifold edition with greater capabilities. Not all possible upgrade paths have options. For example, Universal Edition is a specially discounted bundle that is available at initial procurement only.

Replacement DVD

Manifold products are delivered as a download by Internet. No DVD is included in the price of Manifold System products. If you would like delivery on physical media, purchase this product for DVD installation media. The DVD includes numerous data sets, free editions of Oracle, SQL Server, IBM DB/2 and PostgreSQL/PostGIS products, and other bonus products including DCW, Manifold World, Database Commander and 3D View Studio. This DVD contains the Manifold US Geocoding Database, which is not downloadable and is required for full Geocoding Tools functionality. Order this product to get installation media if you cannot download Manifold System by Internet. Note: Users should plan on making arrangements for Internet connectivity that allows downloads of free Manifold updates that provide bug fixes and other enhancements. The DVD contains the Manifold installation at the time the DVD was mastered, which will almost always lag significantly behind updates published on the web.

$35 - Manifold 8.00 DVD (Media Only) - Delivers DVD installation media for Manifold 8.00. Does not include an 8.00 serial number or an 8.00 product license. Cannot be used for installations or upgrades without an 8.00 serial number.

Technical Support Products

Technical support incidents provide direct access to manifold.net technical experts for answers to specific questions. Each incident covers a specific question. All Manifold tech support is paid. A small fee is charged for each tech support incident with a slightly higher fee charged for developer level questions. A Manifold System license normally includes two pre-paid standard incidents to help get you started. Response times are average responses for business days only, excluding weekends and holidays.

$49 - Standard Tech Support Incident - One standard technical support incident. 48 hour response email technical support for interactive features of the current Manifold System release up to Professional level features. Excludes support for programming, customization of any kind, web serving, SQL and features for Enterprise Edition and above.

$195 - Standard Technical Support - Ten standard technical support incidents. 48 hour response email technical support for interactive features of the current Manifold System release up to Professional level features. Excludes support for programming, customization of any kind, web serving, SQL and features for Enterprise Edition and above.

$295 - Standard Tech Support Incident by Telephone - 24 hour call-back guarantee from 9 to 5 Pacific Time, Monday through Friday excluding Manifold holidays. For interactive features of the current Manifold System release up to Professional level features. $99 - Developer Tech Support Incident - One developer technical support incident. 48 hour response email developer technical support for all current edition Manifold System features.

Service Products

Fee-based services enable assistance with lost serial numbers or misdirected shipments.

$25 - Repeat Shipment - Resend a Manifold shipment. This is a materials and service charge to repeat a shipment. Choose the appropriate shipping method in addition to this fee. Order this product only if instructed by Manifold Sales to replace a shipment or to resend to a different address.

$35 - Limited Key Recovery - Resends one Manifold serial number email to the original email address used for a 6.50 or more recent order, or in the case of previous editions to the email address of record as of 25 July 2005. If the email address is no longer valid, the key recovery will fail and the $35 fee will not be refunded - it will be retained as a service fee for the labor involved in the recovery attempt. Please read the Key Recovery Service Instructions before ordering this product to avoid wasting the service fee.

$75 - Extended Key Recovery - Orders an attempt to resend one Manifold serial number email to a designated current email address, based upon the original customer information used for orders of Manifold products before 25 July 2005. If the recovery attempt fails the $75 fee will not be refunded - it will be retained as a service fee for the labor involved in the recovery attempt. Please read the Key Recovery Service Instructions before ordering this product to avoid wasting the service fee.

These Manifold software and data products are included at no charge on the Manifold System DVD. These products are no longer sold as standalone products.
