Release 4.50 includes a fabulous array of improvements and new features while being easier to use and providing rock-solid reliability.  The new release delivers hundreds of upgrades, including over 60 major improvements, suggested by users and GIS dealers through the world.  Highlights include:

ViewBots – Cool computation bars that float in Map View and report an automatically updated computational result on what you tell them to watch.vbot_total.jpg (10471 bytes) ViewBots can watch objects in a layer, the selection, objects that are currently visible and more. Instantly see statistics and arithmetic measures for the objects (or their fields) being watched. Easy to use! Only Manifold gives you ViewBots.  See the Buffer Zones and ViewBots Tour for a nice example of practical ViewBot usage.

area_int.jpg (22647 bytes)Area Union, Intersection, Non-Intersection, and Subtraction Operations - Combine two areas into one, create a new area that’s the intersection of other areas, the non-intersection of other areas, and more. Create them in new layers if you like. An absolutely indispensable capability. Detail (right): East coast of Northern Ireland, new area in red created from intersection of round circle area and land area of Northern Ireland. swiss_map_big.png (164911 bytes)

New! Clip and Split Operations - Manifold's free Topology Plus solver package adds area/polygon Clip and Split operations.  The Clip function

The wonderful new Clip Inside, Clip Outside and Split solvers allow point-and-click "clipping" operations that allow you to pick an area to use as a "cookie cutter" to cut out map objects from the selection, a given map layer or all layers.   Jump to the Topology Plus page for more information.swiss_map_clipped_big.png (67717 bytes)

If you are ready to jump directly into a massive view of these new solvers in action, check out the thumnails at left.   The upper thumbnail shows a full screen view (162KB .png) of a map of Switzerland within the Digital Chart of the World.  The lower thumbnail shows just the objects within Swiss borders cut out using the Clip Inside solver. (67KB .png).

"Point-in-Polygon" Operations - Called spatial overlays, these dialogs make it easy to transfer data fields from points within areas to areas and vice versa. Transfer average, maximum, minimum, text and more.  Use to find average demographics in trading areas, insurance policy values in shoreline buffer zones and many other applications.

mappoint.jpg (22915 bytes)Publish for MapPoint Wizard - Automatically publish data sets from Manifold for use within Microsoft MapPoint complete with keys to MapPoint geographic objects. MapPoint is a fine viewer but seriously weak in analytics: Here’s your chance to author data sets for display in MapPoint using the infinite power of Manifold. Lots of people will buy MapPoint – are you ready to publish data they want to see?

Manifold Authoring for MapPoint FAQ - Check out our Frequently Asked Questions page for using Manifold in MapPoint Authoring.  This will answer most questions regarding use of Manifold with MapPoint.

New converters include a simple .e00 importer, DEM and gtopo30 DEM importers packaged with the installation, SHP and MID/MIF exporter packaged with the installation, and a variety of network import and export solvers.
