Text: Hello Mike, the price that you comment $45 is the price of bring up to date of the version 4.5 at the 5.0 that it will come out in March. The price of 4.5 if I don't remember wrong it is of $170. I take using Manifold occasionally for about 6 months, and I can make sure that it is durillo, but infinitely but potent thanks to an architecture ' open', since the software incorporates really potent APIs, and monthly they leave many 'solvers' what they call to the add - ins, created by themselves, or for users, and most open - source. To my way of seeing have created a software cojonudo for a price with the one that to arrive to the pyme, but with an use complexity with the one that is impossible to arrive at this market, an interesting dilemma this of the balance, not? In short if you have time to look at it, 100% advisable. |

Text: I begin by saying that I don't have spirit of offending nor of making publicity, but I left my old vector GIS (I won't say names) for Manifold, when the cost of bringing up to date of the old one would cost me *triple* the cost of a new Manifold. I had to re-learn practically everything, but it was worthwhile (and a lot). Now the version 5 is announced of Manifold with raster functionality and step of data raster to vectorial layers, with a price practically of Shareware. About the technical support service? Without having paid *anything* for this support type, I got this and e-mail answers within 24 hours... without limit of time to use this service. I repeat that I don't seek a polemic of the type "our software offers a free translator for Klingon cartography, and Manifold does not" or advocate only one style, but to encourage that the competition is magnificent for all the users. |

Text: Colisteros, Una observacion. ......un mensaje ejemplar copiado de la lista comp.infosystems.gis: I am sure this has been aired here before, but manifold seems to be an incredible bargain. Has anyone got any views about this program good and bad. On paper it competes well with Arcview/Mapinfo but in practice is it as good as it looks. |
